KD Bank (AID box where anyone can donate/take)

I propose the idea of having an open kd bank. Anyone can deposit any type of aid, be it gold, solds, or runes and anyone can withdraw said aid at any time.

This will also allow kd's that are disciplined to reap the benefits. Kd's that have players who are on at varied and sparatic times to be able to receive immediate aid.

The KD bank could also have perks that are influenced minorly by the kd stance. I say minorly because I don't think that the bank should become something that changes the way the game is played, but it should be something that rewards a giving kd.

Possible +/-'s:
In peace, rune and food stockpiles increase by 1% per hour. 0 taxes on bank gc.
In war, soldier amount increases every hour.
In aggressive, soldier amount increases every hour.
In fortified, 1% interest can be gained each hour on the gold stockpile.
In normal, gold increases by 1% each hour.

Possible -'s:
In peaceful, no negative here. (It will encourage people to actually use the stance)
In war, there will be a 1% loss of gc per hour, due to war taxes.
In aggressive, gold decreases by 1% due to military costs.
In fortified, no penalties.
In normal, runes, food, and solds decrease to counteract the gains.

It wouldn’t be necessary to have these perks, but it is just a thought or even a way to generate more conversation. The important suggestion here that I would like to see is the concept of a kingdom bank. If perks might become too overwhelming you could also consider thieves to attack other kd’s banks, but of course have a higher failure rate than it would be with just a province.

I don't agree with the reasoning or the implementation, but I agree with the purpose. This will mainly benefit less active kingdoms who can't be around for aiding all the time. No need to create a holding zone for the goods, just allow players to specify that X amount of good Y are available for aid, with a few safeguards to prevent abuse.

The holding effects are interesting, but would be hard to balance and aren't necessary to achieve the main purpose.

Agree that there shouldn't be safe aid anywhere (and devising rules for how to protect a safehouse would get very complicated), but facilitating aid exchange would be a good thing imo.

Think really quickly about it, a kingdom of Ghetto Bashers make plunder attacks for 3-4 days and stockpiles there earnings in the aid area, then comes at a ghetto which couldn't possibly be able to defend themselves to begin with and they have enough aid stockpiled to send dragon after dragon at them or to just stay in war whoring honor off of them.

Not a great idea, but some way for a province to get help from others when they are the only one online would be nice, for ghettos atleast.

What if (as I at first assumed this was proposing) the bank was a province? Makes a T/M bank useful, though plunder would hurt. And makes for limited roles for the pure thief and pure mage.

However, I'd propose even better would be posting aid from your province as available, and assuming it gets taken later, it gets deducted at the time it is taken. When multiple provs have offered that type of aid, it gets taken via percentage from each that offered.

It still does strange things. Maybe avoid plunder targets by having everyone take 10% of max gc when they log in. Or have a human art with 50% towers and 30% WTs. But I suppose TB will eventually balance many of these problems... and it lets people aid usefully without being slaved to the comp. Decreased incentive for hyperactivity is always worth considering - I at least think it more valuable that the possible strategy quirks introduced. (But maybe someone's got a game breaker I didn't think of - post it if you find it!)

A limited amount in such a bank, maybe. But to make the holding part immune to theft and spells for large amounts and increase it like interest, VT2 said it best, REJECTED.

Holding banks are broken - that one addition would destroy plunder attacks and thief ops. Why keep my money when I could just deposit it in the KD bank? Any excess I have i dump in the bank before logging out, and and withdraw it when I log in. Same for runes, food, and soldiers. A KD that's smart would stockpile enough soldiers to slay a couple of dragons, or rebuild a province that just got fireballed to the ground. The better idea would be as Catwalk said, to designate a portion of your resources as "takable" through aid. Whether it be a flat number or a percentage, doesn't matter. The only abuse I can think of for that would be the jumpers, who defect from kd to kd screwing with everyone's aid and TB. This would give them an option to take as well as give.

Actually, we could take the idea a little further. Instead of aid being sent directly to others, it would have to go the Bank first. Now, perhaps players could designate individuals who could withdraw the specific aid given, or not. Regardless, stealing ops should now be able to target a KD's bank as well. This would ensure no hiding of resources. Plunder attacks would take a portion of the KD's bank holdings as well.

So you want a huge money pile to thieve and plunder. Ok, so do I.

If any plunder into the KD took bank resources, you'd see a lot of quad plunders onto small provinces/low def/suiciders just to get at the resource pool of the stronger provs. So much so that they wouldnt want to leave their stuff there undefended.

this has been proposed every age, it would be cool to have aid banks as long as i can rob them blind!

Banks would just allow people to get around the finite limits programmed into the game, like max population and food/rune decay. The entire idea of a bank is broken, and too easily abused.

I think the anyone can take part is correct. First thing that would happen in a pre war wave is strip the bank. fund everyones province with soldiers ,gc and runes ,fund 1 dragon and start a 2nd one.

Thanks to those responded with something meaningful to say. The first 2 paragraphs I think are good counter measure to the issues that were brought up.

If you allowed kd's to hit each other's bank, you could easily set it so that gains would be NW related, just like every other attack in the game. It would then be pointless for super kd's to hit ghetto's.

If that doesn't appease you, you could set a limit on the amount that the bank could hold, (ex. 500k gc, 200k food, 50k runes, 2000 solds) it would pretty much eliminate the issues that have been brought up thus far. Would a ghetto kd really have that much to spare!? At that point the bank would only need to be accessible to your kd. This would also allow for provinces who are getting hammered during a war to deposit their stockpile at the exact second they are getting opped. (A benefit for being active.)

This type of aid would benefit every kd, not just new players. (What's so wrong with wanting to help new players. I want this game to grow. Afterall, you were new once.) If you feel so strongly against the idea, an educated response may actually validate your opinion, otherwise what's the point of even making a reply. If you read what I typed I intended the bank to be a way to provide instant aid for kd's that have people from many different time zones.

An AID bank eliminates a level of communication between players, thus is a bad idea.

It is abusable while being chained. Release troops to solds once overpopped, AID them into banks, take them back out once you have land come back in and your regrowing.

Makes resources more abundant in wars, so it is harder to disable people through starvation, underpop, wages, etc, removing another element of war.

Lets you bypass Trade Balance to an extent.

Lets people get around decay, which is there for a reason. To stop people abusing time for an advantage either 1 on 1 or in war.

In addition to being able to send aid, what if each province could set up to 'x' amount of each resource to be available at any time aid. These resources would still be open to attacks and ops.

A player could then log in to the AID page and see a list of what aid each province was offering. Once a player (or multiple players) have taken the maximum aid for a particular province allowed, no more aid cold be taken. In effect, a player wanting AID could just take resources as needed, constrained by say, TB tax.

Would also be nice to have a record of how much aid each province is getting, so we can see, for example, that Johnny Mach is hogging everyone's AID. A button should be allowed to block specific provinces from taking aid.

EDIT: So in this case there is no bank to abuse and everything is still open to be stolen. No stocking or hiding or anything of that nature.

SUG: DENIED! .. A dragon bank would make more sense.

I apologize for my statement there. I agree with helping trying to help new players and implementing changes to help the game grow. However, I dont think this suggestion will do that. I'll restate my reasons from my first 2 posts:

Making it vulnerable to plunders -- yikes! i dont wanna stick my stuff there i'd stick it on the best defended province instead.

Making it hold only a small amount -- then why have it at all?
Ppl can rob runes and food in small quantities
Ppl can lower payrate to cover gc
Ppl dont need soldiers in small batches, or if they go without it wont hurt much.
