WTF? seriously... All i can see from the changes is that; "this is our game and we can fix whatever we want the way we want!"
Seems I' wont be playing next age. Its been nice chatting with you people.
Utopia: a "Mess"ive multiplayer strategy game since Mehul sold it
What does "Weight" mean for thieving?
Halflings get both +40% efficiency AND +40% "Weight" for thieving.
Is robbery a sabotage op or an espionage op? I assume sabotage [hence the "+40% GAINS" for halfling"]
It looks like all the good things about gnome were split up between halfling and gnome.
Gnome gets an amazingly good elite (in terms of NW efficiency) and cheap thieves
Halfling gets the racial thievery bonus, stealth bonus, and advantages that look pretty useless. Not enough elves out there to make the clearsight thing that useful, and espionage operations are already accurate enough that saying "100% accurate espionage" is pretty meagre. [The only benefit might be if the SoM becomes so accurate that a CB is not needed.]
YOU TOTALLY NERFED ARTISAN
Welcome to an era of Dwarf Shepherds. Now that you don't need mages for CB, a Dwarf Shepherd's immunity to storms becomes even more powerful.
I cannot figure out what gnome is even meant to be now....looks like some sorta of crappy mage/spynig-only-thief combination. If robbery is sabotage, then I fail to see what makes espionage so great that a whole race appears devoted to it. I suppose a gnome could try to play Jack-Of-All-trades since he still gets an incredibly efficient [for the NW, not the land] elite...but that looks awfully dubious. Gnomes went from being one of the best races to being pretty much useless.
Unless the "espionage" operations are made more useful, I don't see what value having a gnome will give. CBs are already 100% accurate and SoMs are 100% accurate for the one piece of information that matters...Surveys are no longer needed, etc. If Brian and Sean plan on truly making the new CB/CE as easy as CB/CE were, then what's the point?
Actually, I think I figured out what gnome is good for...I'll post on the Talk thread.
What is the difference between weight and gains w.r.t. sabotage and espionage?
Can we get specific numbers on difficulty+stealth usage of the new thief intel ops as was alluded to earleir?
Thievery effectiveness = sabotage and espionage effectiveness? Stacks with the 40% espionage bonus? Multiplicative?
Difference between spell potency and spell success? Is the former a mod on gains and the latter a mod on wpa?
Do you see a purpose for Gnomes beyond intel gathering? Ie. is their *intent* to be an intel gathering race?
Gnomes get "100% Accurate Espionage Intel", does this mean the army out numbers on SoM will no longer be accurate?
- Orc still sux balls. their elite is the weakest in defense and the spec has a less powerful defensive strength.
- I think that few people will play Gnome... it's not interesting compared to Halfling
- Has nightmare been adjusted or is it just as strong as it was this age (46)?
- How hard is it to get a CB or CE now?
Was it intended that halfers has no weaknesses?
Join #nursinghome - for the retirees and the vets to talk about stuff
Am i wrong, or is Dwarf Shepherd just as powerful as it was this age?
And mystic got no boost whatsoever.
Dwarves have no weaknesses either.
Neither do Avians really. The changes essentially made Avians and Humans level now.
I note that elf actually got a bit of a boost...because the thievery penalty only applies to sabotage and not espionage....or general "thievery power"
That brings up a very good question: When you say "+40% sabotage efficiency" or "-15% sabotage efficiency" does that work ONLY ON OFFENSE, or are their now two separate effective TPAs for when you are opd? Does the -15% hit for elf sabotage make them more vulnerable to ops, or does it just make it harder for them to do ops themselves?
Chastity spell for Gnome.....
Does that lower enemy birthrates ??
Utopian Bromide ftw!
This is what gnome is good for.
That is what I thought it might do...except it pretty much overlaps with storms in that case.
Actually, that would be pretty nifty, since Shepherds would actually be vulnerable to mage attacks if there was a way to bring down their birth rates.
But that would be pretty worthless because otherwise gnomes are totally built for non-war situations.
Chastity... google it!
The one race that needed the boost the most got nerfed for the third age in a row. And the replacement it not anywhere near what it used to be either though it will be playable... If you think avian got leveled with human you are wrong it is superior to the human now! As for combos the dorf/art got nerfed which leaves the dorf/sage superior to all other combos still... dorf/shep coming in second.
I can only say this: When I speak to deaf ears I stop speaking. This will be my very last post ever the ones of you that has spent time debating the need for balancing I thank you for your time and I am sorry that I will not be participating again but my time is money/sleep/time with friends or family and this is a waste of it for me!
May the future ages treat you well!
. In my opinion remove the 30% gains and ambush immunity from avians and give them to orcs and we may have some balance in attacker races. Make clear the part of what this" Espionage Weight/Sabotage Weight/Sabotage Gains" mean please. Oh and tell us what is Chastity ?!

Yep, how about a new guidebook as you are introducing new concepts? How about not screwing up Angel, the last tool that we still have left? How about a bit of thought before you drive a coach and horses through the game? Because at this rate you won't attract new players but you'll lose a lot of 'semi-casual' players who won't play well without angel and who will either leave or be killed off as they lose interest. Such shortsightedness....
